Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique on Tuesday passed the 1,000 deaths due to Covid-19, registering 17 more deaths and 1,331 infections, the Ministry of Health announced in the bulletin on the last 24 hours of the pandemic.
The deaths were declared between Friday and Tuesday, the ministry said in a daily data update note. The victims – nine women or girls and eight men or boys – were aged between two and 88 years old.
One death was declared last Friday (Juy 9). 13 deaths were declared on Monday (July 12) and three deaths were declared on Tuesday (July 13).
The Ministry’s statement added tat 331 more patients had recovered in the previous 14 hours..
The total of deaths in the country rises to 1,013 and cases to 91,886, 80% of which have recovered.
Mozambique has 16,658 active cases, of which 372 are hospitalised.
A total of 646,838 suspected cases have been tested in the country since March 2020, of which 4,327 in the last 24 hours.
According to the most recent assessment by the agency France-Presse, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 4,044,816 deaths worldwide, among more than 187.2 million cases of infection by the new coronavirus.
