Africa-Press – Mozambique. A captain in the Armed Forces for the Defense of Mozambique (FADM) was murdered in Macanga district, Tete province, a few days ago, during an “unsuccessful” operation to counter illegal gold mining and trading.
Manica police spokesman Mateus Mindu said that Captain Ricardo Dique was murdered at night by two miners, who seized more than 800,000 meticais.
Mindu said the defendants were arrested in Manica district on Tuesday, and would be taken to Tete province to indicate where they buried the body of the deceased.
The police spokesman said that the case was being processed and that the accused would be charged in the next few days.
