Africa-Press – Mozambique. A major fire on Wednesday consumed a paper recycling factory in the Hulene neighbourhood of Maputo city.
According to National Public Safety Service (SENSAP) spokesman Leonildo Pelembe, the fire broke out in the factory at around 2:00 a.m., consuming cardboard bales which were in the process of being recycled.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
“There were no victims, though a significant amount of product was burned to ashes,” Pelembe said.
The SENSAP team attended the incident using fire-engines], but, due to its intensity, it took them several hours to bring the fire under control.
A factory manager on site declined to comment on the incident.
