Africa-Press – Mozambique. Two children lost their lives to bad weather in Mocuba district, Zambézia province, central Mozambique, over the weekend, a source from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) announced on Monday (15-11).
The first child, a girl aged seven, died after falling from a tree near her house. The child “suffered head injuries, and lost her life on the spot”, Rádio Moçambique quotes INGD delegate in Mocuba district, Raul Guiliche, as saying.
The second child, a boy aged 12, was “pushed by the wind against the wall of the porch of his house”, Guiliche reported, adding that the child died on the way to hospital.
According to authorities, six schools were destroyed by the gale and an undetermined number of houses were totally or partially destroyed, affecting 24 families.
