Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique has been elected as the rapporteur of the Continental Forum for Drug Registration of the African Union, a regulatory community focused on improving public health outcomes in Africa.
In this continental body, Mozambique is represented by the National Medicine Regulatory Authority (ANARME).
The appointment of Mozambique took place this week in Nairobi, Kenya.
A press release from ANARME sent this Saturday (13) to AIM states that Mozambique’s election took place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week during the first forum of directors of drug registration and market authorization in Africa.
The election represents a gain for Mozambique as it strengthens the mechanisms for recognizing continental scientific methodologies for introducing drugs into the national market.
According to the note, the introduction of medicines into the domestic market reduces the likelihood of circulation of counterfeit and low-quality drugs in the country.
For the Forum’s coordinators, the event is an asset to building the regional harmonization initiative to strengthen the regulatory system at the level of the Forum’s member countries.
In the Forum, Mozambique is represented by the management of the Division of Drug, Biological Product, and Health Assessment at ANARME.
Organized by the African Union through the African Union Development Agency (AUDA), the meeting aimed to discuss the pilot phase of the joint continental evaluation of drug registration applications.
