Africa-Press – Mozambique. Former prime minister of Mozambique Luisa Diogo has said that, because of constant pressure on the state budget, the country is in no position to subsidise the fuel sector.
Speaking in Maputo this Friday at the launch of the third edition of the Total Energies start-up award, Luísa Diogo, who is also an economist, said that, given its dependence on imports in the oil market, the country had no alternative but to raise the price of fuel.
The Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE) justified the rise in fuel prices with the upward direction of the price of crude oil and its derivatives on the international market.
Regarding the abundant gas in the country, Luísa Diogo says that Mozambicans had to be patient while they waited to take advantage of the fuel source.
