Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, as part of its support programme for victims of the floods that have affected several provinces of the country, this morning delivered to the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD) approximately 95 tonnes of essential food supplies and 100,000 hygiene kits and sanitary materials. This support, valued at more than 32 million meticais, is part of the broader 200 million meticais package announced by the CEO of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanné.

During the handover ceremony, Maxime Rabilloud, the representative of TotalEnergies in Mozambique, stated:

“The impact of the floods has been extremely severe. That is why we feel it is our responsibility to continue joining our efforts with those of the Government of Mozambique, in order to help alleviate the suffering of the people, families, and communities directly affected. This support we are delivering today aims to continue addressing the most urgent needs of the affected families. We will extend our support by providing agricultural inputs, rehabilitating social infrastructure to be selected together with the Government of Mozambique, and implementing actions related to water and sanitation. The Mozambique LNG Project is deeply committed to Mozambique and to the Mozambican people.”

The INGD’s Director of Planning and Cooperation, Rita Almeida, stated:

“We would like to thank the Mozambique LNG Project for this substantial support that it is delivering to us today, in response to the Government’s appeal for all of us to join this cause in support of the families affected by the floods. This assistance will be extremely important for reinforcing our interventions on the ground. We need not only to continue supporting those who are in accommodation centres, but also those who now need to rebuild their lives in the places where they are returning.”
