The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Maputo province still have no leads regarding the whereabouts or identity of the group that fatally shot, at close range, National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) police officer Grácio Machaia in Intaka, Matola municipality, on Sunday night.

According to the PRM spokesperson for Maputo, Juarce Martins, investigations into the motivation behind this colleague’s murder and the current whereabouts of the perpetrators are still ongoing.

Grácio Machaia, 41 years old, and with Police Identification Number 13810048, was murdered at point-blank range shortly after 7:00 p.m. last Sunday. Witnesses say that the assailants were transported in a Toyota Corrola, while sources report that the gang vandalised the residence of the deceased in the hours immediately preceding the fatal assault.
