Mozambique: Secretary of State for Maputo Province visits Beluluane Industrial Park

Africa-PressMozambique. Beluluane Industrial Park hosted Her Excellency the Secretary of State for Maputo Province Vitoria Dias Diogo on the 13th of July.

During her address, the Secretary of State mentioned that Beluluane Industrial Park has set a benchmark in Mozambique, Africa and the world as a whole, for any investor wishing to invest in Mozambique for its essential contributions of the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and to the growth and development of the economy, playing a critical role in accelerating industrialisation, increasing development and growth, attracting targeted foreign direct investments and domestic investments, growing and diversifying value-added exports and ultimately building a regionally diversified industrial economy. She went on to state that the government is immensely proud of what BIP has achieved and is fully committed to continually support BIP in its developmental plans.

According to the Secretary of State, BIP is fulfilling one of the major targets of the government – job creation, by hosting over 40 companies from 17 different countries, generating more than 7000 jobs therefore being the biggest industrial employer in the Maputo Province. The umbrella company MozParks is currently in the process of a nationwide expansion, creating industrial parks to support large anchor projects. The government together with BIP will continue to generate one of the many solutions to stimulating economic growth by creating sustainable jobs.

Her Excellency, Vitória Diogo, applauded BIP for the commitment to the growth of the young people in Mozambique through the MIMI NIKO KAZI internship programme which has been providing young people with opportunities through the unique paid internship since 2018. Apart from creating jobs for the youth, the programme gives young people an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and at the same time allowing training opportunities for the young in the private sector. This initiative is making an important contribution towards businesses and industry in Mozambique through the private sector.

Her Excellency was received by Beluluane Industrial Park General Manager, Onório Manuel, as well as some park company directors, Gil Cumaio (Mozal), Marco Correia (Duys Moçambique), David Scheepers (Capital Star Steel), Vinay Rana (Midal Cables) and Abhishek Dahiya (Beleza). As part of the visit to BIP, her Excellency made a site visit to Duys Moçambique, headed by the CEO of Duys Moçambique Lda, Marco Correia. Duys Moçambique Lda is a Mechanical Engineering, 100% Mozambican owned company established in the industrial park in 1999 and employs over 80 people.
