Mozambique: Six-year-old child among seven Covid-19 deaths as cases surge

Africa-PressMozambique. Mozambique has recorded seven more deaths from Covid-19, increasing to 904 the number of deaths attributed to the new coronavirus, a statement from the Ministry of Health received by Radio Mozambique this Sunday indicates.

The victims are six male and one female patients, all of Mozambican nationality, whose ages range between six and 75 years. The deaths were all declared on Saturday, July 3.

The updated Covid-19 figures indicate that a further 938 individuals tested positive for the disease.

Maputo city registered 540 new cases, followed by Manica province, with 126, bringing to 80,151 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The statement also reports that six patients recovered from Covid-19, and that 228 are hospitalised in Covid-19 in-patient centres and other hospitals.

By Sunday, July 4, Mozambique had 7,609 active cases of the novel coronavirus.
