Mozambique: Son of the president of the CPLP Business Confederation rescued

Africa-Press – Mozambique. “Salimo and Maria Abdula [the parents of Jahyr Abdula who was kidnapped in South Africa earlier in October] are overjoyed and grateful to announce the safe return of our son,” reads a message posted on the Facebook page of Salimo Abdula.

The content of the message has been confirmed to Lusa by a family source.

” We are looking forward to reuniting and healing as a family and will appreciate some privacy for a while,” the post reads.

Salimo and Maria Abdula further thank “the South African Crime Intelligence, all Police Services (…) the Mozambican government and other parties who assisted in ensuring the safe return of our son”.

In the message, the family also says that they are ” thankful that justice is taking its course” and expresses the wish that “good always thrives over evil”.

Jahyr Abdula was kidnapped on the night of October 14, in the city of Benoni, South Africa.

Jahyr is the eldest son of Salimo Abdula, a prominent Mozambican businessman who founded the Intelec Holdings Group and who previously chaired the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and the board of directors of Vodacom, the mobile operator with the largest market share in Mozambique . Salimo Abdula is currently the president of the Business Confederation of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CE- CPLP).
