Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Directorate for Livestock Development has banned the importing from South Africa of cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, their meat and by-products, plus wild cloven-hoofed ruminants and fodder for feeding cattle.

The measure follows an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in three South African provinces reported earlier this week by the neighbouring country’s government

The provision does not prohibit the import of pasteurised dairy products (milk, cheese, yoghurt and cream), heat-processed meats (canned goods and sausages) or pharmaceutical substances.

The ban covers products from South Africa’s North West, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.
