Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Tax Authority of Mozambique’s Special Goods Control Team at Mavalane International Airport (Maputo) on Wednesday foiled an attempt to export heroin to Canada.
According to a Tax Authority (AT) statement, the drug was disguised ias 247 capulana buttons being sent by mail service to one Jacqueline Brenda, ostensibly a resident of Canada.
The AT, whose suspicions were aroused by the volume of the consignment, requested tests from the National Criminal Investigation Service, which confirmed the presence of heroin.
“Right now, steps are being taken to clarify the case, as well as to hold the authors responsible,” the note details.
Last month, the AT caught red-handed two “drug mules” arriving from Brazil, also via Mavalane International Airport.
