Nyusi invites U.S. businesspeople to invest in Mozambique

Africa-Press – Mozambique. President Nyusi wants cooperation with the United States to reach levels corresponding to the country’s existing potential, and to this end has invited North American businessmen to take advantage of the opportunities and the business environment favourable to foreign investment.

The Mozambican head of state was yesterday at the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in the US capital, Washington, where he interacted with business people and representatives of US financial institutions with economic interests in Mozambique.

President Nyusi considers the current stage of trade between the two countries as good, but with room to raise cooperation to higher levels, corresponding to the potential and increasingly favourable business environment in Mozambique.

According to the president, the ongoing reform of economic legislation, as well as peace and political stability, justify an increase in foreign investment in Mozambique, especially in the energy sector.

Before attending the Mozambique Business and Investment Roundtable at the Corporate Council on Africa, President Nyusi held a meeting with former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Chester Crocker.

Nyusi also met the President of the World Bank, David Malpass, and the Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva.

The Mozambican head of state also attended a high-level meeting on the involvement of the United States in the African continent, in addition to participating in a dinner with businesspeople, friends of Mozambique and members of the Mozambican community residing in the United States.
