Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican Attorney-General’s Office (PGR) has expressed its concern at the consumption of illicit drugs in schools and has called for the training of anti-drug groups, involving students and teachers.
According to the Maputo City Chief Prosecutor, Natércia Dias, cited in Friday’s issue of the independent daily “O País”, schools have been turning into hubs for drug sales and consumption, especially in Maputo.
“We need to carry out training activities aimed at providing tools to all members of the group, especially students. We need to create an action plan to be implemented in schools. However, rather than reprimanding, we are concerned with prevention, so we have adopted measures to prevent drug use, especially among children, adolescents and young people”, she said.
For this reason, Dias explained, “we took the initiative to create anti-drug centres in all schools in Maputo city, to ensure involvement in actions to prevent this evil that is drug use, which brings harm to children, young people and adolescents.”
