Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) on Wednesday incinerated around 400 kilograms of cannabis sativa, commonly known as “suruma”, in the city of Chimoio, Manica province. Home-made drugs and beverages, whose owner operated illegally, were also incinerated.
SERNIC says it is doing everything it can to ensure that Manica does not become a corridor for drug trafficking and consumption.
SERNIC is not only concerned about suruma. It was also possible to dismantle a clandestine beverage factory operating at the Chizombero landfill.
SERNIC has revealed that drug use in the province of Manica, especially in the city of Chimoio, has been increasing at a worrying rate recently. The situation is even more alarming because there are cases of drug use even in schools. SERNIC says it is stepping up actions to combat the problem.
