Africa-Press – Mozambique. Road traffic on National Highway Number 2( EN2) ,has been interrupted since early Tuesday morning. in the locality of Mafuiane, Namaacha district, Maputo Province,
Residents barricaded the road and burned tires and tree trunks.
The protests seems to be because, according to the population, the road is impassable and trucks transporting stones for construction raise too much dust, Miramar reports.
Dozens of vehicles have been unable to proceed between Boane and Namaacha in either direction.
The Rapid Intervention Unit ( UIR) of the police was called and fired tear gas to disperse the protesters.
Work is now underway to clear the road and allow traffic to resume.
