Africa-Press – Mozambique. The population that had taken refuge in the woods near the village of Kutua, in Eráti district, Nampula province, following the attack perpetrated on Friday by a group of terrorists, has already resumed their normal life, after they withdrew from the region, Notícias reports this Tuesday. The return of the population follows “an intelligence work” carried out shortly after the attack, district administrator, Manuel Manussa, told Notícias.
In the incursion into the village, the terrorist group burned houses and a local health centre. Manussa said that the inhabitants of Kutua village, whose number was not specified, were already circulating and moving freely to their ‘machambas’ [agricultural fields].
The government official said that the terrorists did not actually occupy the village. He added that, after the fear spread by the attack and the “intelligence work” carried out, it was now possible to reach Kutua from the Eráti district headquarters town and other routes.
The village of Kutua borders the province of Cabo Delgado, across the river Lúrio (200-300 metres), and limits with the district of Memba. It is about 300 kilometres distant from the city of Nampula.
