Power export price review increases HCB revenue by 49%

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) generated 34,917.00 million meticais in revenue last year, an increase of 49.2% compared to company forecasts. According to Notícias, the increase results from the review of HCB’s electricity export tariff.

It is believed that this performance will contribute to consolidating the economic and financial robustness of the hydroelectric plant and the main indicators that allow it to generate the capacity to carry out and search for investments for the expansion and diversification of the business, within the framework of the reactivation of Central Norte (estimated capacity 1,245 MW), and the implementation of a projected 400 MW photovoltaic plant expected to be completed in the coming years.

The economic, financial and operational performance report for the year 2023, signed by the HCB chairman Tomás Matola, points out that, in response to the need to develop the national economy and the regional energy crisis, the company continued the transformation of management, with a new, lighter organic structure.
