Africa-Press – Mozambique. The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, will tomorrow, December 9, participate in commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the independence of the United Republic of Tanzania, as a guest of honour in Dar-es-Salaam.
Tanganyika achieved independence on December 9, 1961. In 1964 it united with Zanzibar, which had become independent in 1963, forming the present United Republic of Tanzania.
Tanzania was the main host country of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo) during the country’s national liberation struggle.
President Nyusi will be accompanied by Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo Ndlovu, and members of the staff of the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
