President visits Switzerland, addresses 76th World Health Assembly

Africa-Press – Mozambique. President Filipe Nyusi tis on a two-day working visit to the Swiss Confederation.

The Head of State this Sunday participated in the opening of the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) which also marks the 75th Anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO), in response to the invitation by the director general of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The seventy-sixth World Health Assembly is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 21–30 May 2023. The theme for this year is: WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all

Under the theme: “Clean water, sanitation and hygiene in health care facilities”, President Nyusi made an intervention on the good practices undertaken in the country, in basic health care for Mozambican society , in particular for the most disadvantaged populations.

A communiqué issued by the Presidency states that, while in Geneva and on the sidelines of these events, President Nyusi has scheduled bilateral meetings with Tedros Ghebreyesus, with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Volker Turk, and with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.

On this visit, the Mozambican Head of State is accompanied by the Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, members of staff from the Presidency of the Republic and other State institutions.
