Africa-Press – Mozambique. Heavy rain hit the city of Pemba on Tuesday afternoon (14-11), the first of the current rainy season to hit the Cabo Delgado provincial capital, flooding dozens of houses and causing one fatality.
The victim is a boy who lost his life after being swept by the rainwater into a drainage ditch in the ANE road area while returning from school.
The flooded residences are located in the neighbourhoods of Natite and Cariacó, specifically in the Inos and Cariacó market areas.
As often before, rainwater swept litter into drainage ditches, clogging them, so that standing water then inundated houses.
