Africa-Press – Mozambique. Families devastated by terrorist acts in Memba district, Nampula province, are already returning to the area to start rebuilding their lives.

The administrator of Memba, Juma Candria, made it known that, particularly in Chipene, in Canhunha district, residents had returned in numbers and were rebuilding their homes and farming again, with support of various types from the government and partners.

Candria said that the government in the district had made a concerted effort to get families to return to their areas of origin in order to continue with productive activity, since security in the region was guaranteed.

“We can practically say that the return of the population has already been 100 percent,” he said.

The Memba administrator said that schools and health centres in Pavala and Lúrio, abandoned following the attacks, were again fully operational, and that “the challenge was now to restore normal operations at the Chipene Health Centre, which was set on fire by the terrorists”.
