Africa-Press – Mozambique. Restrictions on Regional Road 698, which serves as an alternative route connecting the North and South of Cabo Delgado, on the Montepuez/Mueda section, will continue for another week.
The approximately 200-kilometer route has been restricted for vehicles weighing more than 10 tons for about two weeks to allow for emergency repairs due to the extremely poor road conditions.
The extension of the restriction was announced today by the Minister of Public Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, who is currently on a work visit in Cabo Delgado.
Three contractors are stationed on this highway, and the initial work involved removing buried trucks that were blocking the road, a task that lasted for about three weeks.
