Africa-Press – Mozambique. Maria Rita Freitas has ceased her duties as Inspector General of the National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE), after a long career in the industry and commerce sector which earned her the title of “Iron Lady”.

Freitas’ duties ceased on 28 April, 2025, under paragraph 4 of article 41 of the General Statute of State Employees and Agents (EGFAE), and will no longer exercise any management function during her transition to retirement.

The information is contained in circular no. 01 of the Ministry of Economy, which states that Maria Rita Freitas was dismissed from her services by an order dated February 2024.

Maria Rita Freitas is handing over to Eduardo Muchamisso Samuel Jane, Deputy Inspector General of INAE, who has been appointed to coordinate the institution’s activities while awaiting the appointment of the new management.

Maria Rita Freitas shared with ‘Carta’ a message of gratitude extended to everyone who had supported her during the exercise of her duties.

“I am ending my career with a sense of mission accomplished, knowing that I did everything I could. This period was, without a doubt, a time of great learning and I am sure that I will have fond memories of our interaction, professionalism, companionship and complicity. Together, we had the privilege of working on training and guiding our economic agents to ensure compliance with the laws, standards and rules that govern our country, with the aim of serving the consumer better and better,” the message runs.

The INAE is headed by an inspector general, assisted by a deputy inspector general, both appointed by the prime minister, on the proposal of the minister who oversees the area of Industry and Commerce.
