Africa-Press – Mozambique. The leadership of the Southern African Development Community Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) has handed over some equipment donated by the European Union (EU) to the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM), as part of the withdrawal of SAMIM, which should be concluded by 15 July.

According to the South African portal DefenceWeb, the equipment was received by the FADM representative, Brigadier Tarcisio Paumbele, in the presence of EU Project Coordinator Faith Daniels, on 18 April.

The donation included vehicles, boats and refrigerated containers.

On receiving the donation, Paumbele expressed his gratitude on behalf of the FADM, explaining that the force will make appropriate use of this equipment to carry out various missions, especially the fight against terrorism in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.

“We would like to express our sincere and profound thanks to the European Union, through its representative, for donating this equipment, which will be useful both for the FADM in general and for the sub-units deployed in the Northern Operational Theatre”, he said.
