Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican National Immigration Service (SENAMI) claims that last month it prevented the illegal entry of 87 foreign citizens into the country.

According to the SENAMI statement, the individuals were denied entry into Mozambique because they lacked visas, or could show no means of how they would support themselves during their stay, or had no proof of accommodation.

This action is a result of the immigration authorities’ concern about the growing number of foreign citizens entering the country in the last three months.

In the same period, SENAMI recorded the deportation from countries in the region of 692 Mozambican citizens. Most of them – 658 – were deported from South Africa.

SENAMI has also said that the Mozambican authorities are working in coordination with their South African counterparts in order to monitor the citizens involved in the building collapse in George city. So far, at least three Mozambicans have been declared dead.
