Africa-Press – Mozambique. Islamist terrorists attacked on Saturday and Tuesday two communities in Ancuabe district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, according to Wednesday’s issue of the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique.”

During an attack against the Nanduli region, a group of six terrorists burned houses, forcing several households to flee to the Ancuabe district capital.

According to the paper’s sources, the terrorists were unable to carry out their plan totally, due to the response of the Mozambican Defence and Security Forces (FDS), and the Rwandan troops supporting them. Since Tuesday afternoon, the Rwandans have been providing security for Ancuabe town.

The other attack took place on Saturday, against Missufini village. In this raid, one member of the local militia was killed and around 20 houses were burnt down.

In this community, the terrorists could not cause much damage because at the same time a unit of the armed forces was passing through on its way to the Cabo Delgado provincial capital, Pemba, and immediately intervened, forcing the attackers to retreat.

Some of the Missufini families were forced to flee to the villages of Impiri, Ntutupue, Silva Macua and the city of Pemba.

Responsibility for this attack, was claimed by the international terrorist network calling itself the “Islamic State” through its propaganda channels.

For his part, the Permanent Secretary of Ancuabe district, Saide Amade, visited Missufini after the attack and expressed his solidarity with the victims, offering tents and foodstuffs to minimize their suffering.
