Africa-Press – Mozambique. The circulation of passenger and cargo trains in the Southern Region of the country has been interrupted.

The cause of this disruption is the burying of the train tracks due to heavy rains in the province and city of Maputo.

Technical teams were on-site to address the issues resulting from the heavy rainfall on the three lines that make up the Mozambique Railways network system in the Southern Region.

Emídio Bata, the Executive Director of CFM South, explains that due to the emergency work being carried out on-site, efforts were being made to resume circulation as soon as possible on the Limpopo line, which connects Maputo and Zimbabwe, and the Goba line, which connects Maputo and Eswatini.

Emídio Bata also emphasizes that everything is being done to ensure that passenger train services can resume without disruption by Tuesday.

The Executive Director of CFM South mentions that the frequent interruption of train circulation in the southern region of the country, always a concern, is partly due to informal settlements along the railway lines.
