Train-the-Trainers Programme Enhances Counter-Terrorism

Africa-Press – Mozambique. At the beginning of this week, in the Katembe Training Camp, members of the Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) tested their skills on Counter-terrorism operations.

With the support and assistance of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) Counter-Terrorism Advisor (CTAD), from the Portuguese Gendarmerie Force, military personnel from the FADM practice some Counter-terrorism techniques such as prisoner handling and tactical site exploitation. Beyond that it was reinforce the interoperability of FADM with other forces of security of the Mozambican state in the fight against terrorism.

This days of hard work in Katembe demonstrated the effort of the FADM to keep Mozambique at the forefront of counter-terrorism strategies, and also the EUMAM MOZ`s commitment to continuous assessment inside the Train-the-Trainers Programme, with the objective of strengthening the sustainability of Mozambique`s QRF.

EUMAM MOZ is a military assistance mission with a non-executive mandate. The main aim is to help the FADM to develop the necessary and sustainable capacities to restore safety and security in Cabo Delgado by providing them with specialised training, mentoring and advising.
