Africa-Press – Mozambique. An intense tropical cyclone is expected to hit central Mozambique on Friday, the meteorological bureau on the French island of ReĢunion, which monitors cyclone activity in the Indian Ocean, announced this Monday.
Authorities on the island have advised the population to heed warnings over the next few days carefully. While the strength of the storm and the area that will be affected are still uncertain, heavy rain, strong winds and heavy seas are expected.
Intense cyclone Freddy is currently active in the Indian Ocean, and is forecast to hit Madagascar on Tuesday. There, it will lose strength before proceeding into the Mozambique Channel.
