Africa-Press – Mozambique. Authorities shot down two drones in Nampula city on Tuesday (13-09).

The drones were flying over the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) special forces barracks in the area adjacent to Nampula International Airport, and were brought down on suspicion of gathering information in a restricted area, Notícias reports.

The spokesman for the PRM Command in Nampula, Zacarias Nacute, confirmed this information, adding that the drones were flying over an area which civilians are forbidden to enter.

Nacute said that, after the downing and seizure of the drones, an investigation into identifying the respective owners was started.

If any matter of a criminal nature was established, the owners of the drones would be held accountable, he said.
