Africa-Press – Mozambique. Yesterday 504 students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) received laptops yesterday as part of the government programme “One Computer per Higher Education Student”, which aims to promote digital inclusion and modernise teaching across public institutions nationwide.

With this latest handover, UEM has now provided laptops to a total of 746 students since the campaign began.

Speaking at the ceremony in Maputo, UEM Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Amália Uamusse, emphasised the importance of the initiative in reducing digital inequalities and widening access to information technologies, enabling students to learn, conduct research, and innovate.

“The computer is an essential tool for teaching, learning, and scientific research. In a context of rapid digital transformation, its use is crucial for developing technological skills and preparing our students for the challenges of the 21st century,” she said.

Uamusse also called on students to demonstrate greater responsibility and respect for the Government’s investment.
