Africa-Press – Mozambique. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will fund the rehabilitation of public service infrastructure in districts of Cabo Delgado affected by terrorism, particularly with regard to Macomia and Quissanga.

Last week, more financial support was announced in Pemba, during a meeting to consider reconstruction activities which brought together Cabo Delgado provincial authorities and UNDP representative Narjess Saidane.

In addition to Macomia and Quissanga, the two billion meticais UNDP intervention will also benefit Mocímboa da Praia, Palma and Muidumbe.

UNDP Resident Representative in Mozambique, Narjess Saidane, says that the mobilisation of additional resources could be concluded in the coming days and that reconstruction in the affected districts would begin in August or September.

The Secretary of State in Cabo Delgado, António Supeia, expressed pleasure at the rebuilding work. With more than half of Cabo Delgado’s districts affected by terrorist attacks, the province was grateful for help from partners and international reconstruction agencies, he said.
