Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is warning of strong gusty winds, from this afternoon (Wednesday 21-05), in the provinces of Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane, in southern Mozambique.
A statement from INAM indicates wind speeds of up to 70 kilometres per hour, possibly persisting until tomorrow.
The winds will occur Matutuíne, Namaacha, Boane, Moamba, Magude, Manhiça and Marracuene districts in Maputo province and in the cities of Maputo and Matola.
They are also forecast to occur in the districts of Massingir, Chókwè, Chongoene, Bilene, Limpopo, Mandlakazi, Chicualacuala, Mapai, Massangena, Mabalane, Chibuto, Guijá, Chonguene and Cidade de Xai-Xai, in Gaza province and in the districts of Zavala, Inhambane and Panda in Inhambane.
The INAM report predicts rough seas with waves up to five metres high south of the 24th parallel over this period.
INAM therefore recommends taking precautions and appropriate safety measures over the two days.
