Africa-Press – Mozambique. A 19-year-old girl was seriously injured after hitting an explosive device , suspected to be an anti-personnel landmine used in the war, with a hoe. in Gurué district, Zambézia, the police announced yesterday.
“Inadvertently the hoe activated a device which ended up exploding”, in an incident which occurred over the weekend, said Sidner Lonzo, spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Zambézia, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.
The blast burned the victim’s legs. She is currently receiving medical care at the Rural Hospital of Gurué, added the PRM spokesman..
