AfricaPress-mozambique: Almost three years after its creation, the Mozambique Road Network (REVIMO) has just expanded its portfolio of roads concessioned by the government.
Following on the initial concession, in December 2019, of the Maputo-Katembe Bridge, the Maputo Ring Road and National Road Number 6, the government this Tuesday approved a decree granting REVIMO the management of three roads in Gaza province: the R453 (Macie-Praia de Bilene), N101 (Macie-Chókwè) and R448 (Chókwè-Macaretane).
Cabinet spokesman Filimão Suazi said the decision aimed to “broaden the application of the principle of user participation in the rehabilitation and maintenance of the road network”. As with the three initial concessions, REVIMO will introduce tolls, thus expanding its source of income for maintenance and rehabilitation.
REVIMO’s latest assets are touted out as the busiest roads in Gaza, especially the N101 and R453, which connect Chókwè to Macie village and Bilene beach respectively.
REVIMO is a public limited company created on September 11, 2018, in the Private Registry of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the same that registered the three defaulting companies , EMATUM (Empresa Moçambique de Tuna), MAM (Mozambique Asset Management) and ProIndicus. The company has a share capital of 660 million meticais, represented by 66,000 thousand shares with a nominal value of 10,000 meticais each.
