AfricaPress-mozambique: Eighteen million meticais(around US$287,134)  is the amount needed to compensate the families who practiced subsistence agriculture in the area taken over by Chongoene Airport in Gaza.

A total of 383 families who practiced agriculture and raised livestock in the area were forced to leave when the airport was built.

Director of Infrastructure Services in Gaza, Alberto Matusse, said that the government was still negotiating with partners in order to obtain the amount in question.

Teams from the provincial government were working with communities to enumerate the areas and cultures of each family covered by the compensation scheme while the money was being sought, Matusse explained.
