AfricaPress-mozambique: In the first quarter of this year, Gorongosa National Park exported eight tonnes of coffee to the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Portugal. It is one of the park’s largest shipments to date, and demonstrates the product’s standing in the international market.
The development comes at a time when the popularity of growing coffee in Gorongosa National Park is growing. In two years, the number of families involved in the initiative has grown from 300 to 800, and the area under cultivation tripled to 200 hectares.
Gorongosa coffee is highly appreciated for its unique characteristics both at home and abroad.
The Gorongosa coffee production project started in 2017 as part of a strategy aimed at protecting biodiversity and promoting socio-economic development in the area.
