FACIM will definitely take place this year – minister

AfricaPress-mozambique: After being postponed last year because of Covid-19, the Maputo International Fair (FACIM) will definitely take place this year, Minister of Industry and Commerce Carlos Mesquita said at a ceremony to launch the event.

The 56th FACIM will take place between August 30 and September 5, 2021, in Ricatla, Marracuene district, Maputo province, Minister Mesquita announced, cited by “Notícias”, either both physically and virtually or only the latter, according to Covid-19 considerations.

The minister did not mention the number of companies and countries slated to participate.

United States of America Agency (USAID) representative Peter Gauthier, said at the launch that USAID had established a partnership with the Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports (APIEX) and the Confederation of Associations Economics of Mozambique (CTA) to help Mozambican exporters benefit from opportunities in the international market.

The last (55th) edition of FACIM took place in 2019, from 26 August to 1 September, under the motto “Mozambique and the World: Enlarging the Market, Promoting Investment and Strengthening Partnerships”. Twenty-three countries participated, including, notably, Egypt, for the first time, with around 2,000 exhibitors, almost 1,700 of them from Mozambique.
