AfricaPress-mozambique: Family, freinds, members of the government and of the Frelimo party along  with leading figures from Sofala province on Wednesday (June 23) paid their last respects to First [Frelimo] Provincial Secretary Angelina Ntchumali, who passed away on Monday in a hospital in the capital city.

Angelina Ntchumali was a member of the Frelimo Central Committee and had travelled to the capital to attend a meeting of that body.

Frelimo social organisations such as the OJM, OMM and the ACLIN highlighted Nchumali’s reputation as an upstanding political leader and tireless national liberation fighter.

In the words of Carlos Siwa, member of the Frelimo provincial committee secretariat, Ntchumali had a great capacity for mobilisation, and the party still needed contributions like hers to overcome challenges, starting with preparations for internal elections.

Frelimo Secretary General Roque Silva praised her as an active militant, who had dedicated almost her entire life to the service of the party and the country.

Angelina Ntcumali, who was born in Macomia, Cabo Delgado, and became the first secretary of Frelimo in Sofala last year, was buried this Thursday (June 24) at Santa Isabel Cemetery in Beira.
