AfricaPress-mozambique: The Council of Ministers, meeting at its 20th ordinary session on Tuesday (June 15), considered and approved the decree extinguishing the National Institute of Land Transport (INATTER), and creating in its place the National Institute of Road Transport (INATRO).
INATRO is a category A public institute, endowed with legal, administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy, whose objective is to “regulate, inspect and supervise activities carried out in the road sector to meet the mobility needs of people and goods, with guarantees of quality and safety”, cabinet spokesman Filimão Suaze explained.
The executive also yesterday approved a decree creating the Macaneta integrated tourism resort zone in Marracuene, Maputo province.
Under the special economic zone regime, the 542-hectare Macaneta tourism zone will boost economic activity in the region, increasing the demand for investments and tourism opportunities. The government expects the move to help make Mozambique a premium tourist destination, especially around Macaneta beach.
Spokesman and Deputy Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs Suaze also announced the approval of a document integrating roads from Gaza province into the Mozambique Road Network, namely R453 (Macia-Praia do Bilene), N101 (Macia-Chókwe) and R448 (Chókwe-Macaretane).
The decision “aims to broaden the participation of users in the rehabilitation and maintenance of the road network,” he explained.
The Council of Ministers also assessed the Covid-19 situation, the state of special economic zones, the digital economy, and infrastructure and power transmission projects, among other matters.
