Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Botswana following a one-day working visit by Botswana’s President, Duma Gideon Boko, with both leaders prioritising trade, infrastructure development, and regional integration.

The meeting builds on outcomes of the recent Bi-National Commission, with the two heads of state agreeing to maintain regular consultations to ensure the effective implementation of bilateral agreements.

Key discussions focused on advancing trade promotion and infrastructure projects, including the proposed Trans-Kalahari Railway, as well as leveraging Namibia’s ports—particularly Walvis Bay—to enhance regional trade and connectivity.

The leaders also highlighted their shared involvement in the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, emphasising the importance of conservation and sustainable development as part of regional cooperation efforts.

Against the backdrop of rising global geopolitical tensions, both countries underscored the need for closer collaboration among neighbouring states, guided by principles of international cooperation, respect for international law, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

President Boko expressed appreciation for Namibia’s hospitality and reiterated Botswana’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations in pursuit of a shared economic agenda.

The visit signals continued efforts by both countries to strengthen ties and advance mutual development goals.
