In a message addressed to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed sadness at Zéroual’s death on 28 March 2026 and conveyed sympathy on behalf of the Namibian government and its people.
“It is with profound sadness that I have learned of the passing of the former President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, His Excellency Mr. Liamine Zéroual,” she said.

She described Zéroual as a leader who contributed to peace, stability and the strengthening of Algeria’s institutions, adding that his leadership reflected a strong commitment to unity and nation-building.
Nandi-Ndaitwah also recalled Zéroual’s historic State Visit to Namibia in September 1998, noting that he remains the only Algerian Head of State to have visited the country.
She said Namibia stands in solidarity with the people of Algeria during their time of mourning and extended condolences to Zéroual’s family.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
