Africa-Press – Namibia. The Minister of International Relations, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, has invited the Brazilian private sector to explore opportunities for establishing manufacturing and processing plants in Namibia, aiming to add value to the country’s energy resources.

She extended this invitation during a meeting with Mauro Vieira, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, during which she highlighted that such investments would not only drive industrial development but also significantly contribute to job creation, skills transfer, and inclusive economic growth in Namibia.

“As you know, Honourable Minister, Namibia has made significant discoveries in oil and gas, and renewable energy in the form of green hydrogen, in this regard, we extend a strong invitation to the Brazilian private sector to explore the opportunities available within Namibia’s growing manufacturing industry. Namibia offers a stable business environment, strategic access to regional and international markets, and an abundance of natural resources that remain underutilised in terms of value addition. We encourage Brazilian companies to consider establishing manufacturing and processing plants in Namibia to add value to these resources locally,” Ashipala-Musavyi said.

She also emphasised Namibia’s appreciation for Brazil’s expertise and technological advancements in agriculture, especially in areas such as smallholder farming development, livestock management, and agri-processing. She noted that, as a country committed to improving food security and reducing dependency on imports, Namibia is keen to strengthen this cooperation. Furthermore, she pointed out that significant untapped potential exists between the two nations in trade and investment.

“We recognise, with pride, existence of a direct maritime shipping route between the Port of Santos and the Port of Walvis Bay. This strategic link presents a unique opportunity to facilitate greater trade flows, reduce logistical barriers, and promote stronger commercial ties between Namibia and Brazil, and the wider SADC and Mercosur regions. It is our firm intention to capitalise on this advantage and to work closely with our Brazilian counterparts to stimulate increased volumes on this route, stimulated by increased investments and business exchanges,” Ashipala-Musavyi added.
