THE President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Abdullah Khalil Al-Musaibeeh, is undertaking a three-day introductory visit to Namibia.

According to the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, the visit aims to strengthen existing relations and explore new avenues of collaboration between Namibia and BADEA, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and development, as outlined in the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).

“H.E. Al-Musaibeeh was received by Hon. Amb. Selma Ashipala–Musavyi, his host, and accompanied by Honourables Veicco Nekundi, Minister of Works and Transport, Ericah Shafudah, Minister of Finance, and Dino Balotti, Deputy Minister of Education, Sports, Arts and Culture. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and identifying priority sectors for potential partnerships aligned with Namibia’s national development objectives,” the ministry added.

The ministry revealed that Al-Musaibeeh is also scheduled to meet with other key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to explore possible areas of collaboration.

“BADEA offers a wide range of development finance products and services, including concessional loans to public and private entities, as well as financing for trade, infrastructure, agriculture, rural development, and social sectors. The Bank also provides grants aimed at strengthening capacity development. Namibia and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa enjoy a longstanding and strategic development partnership, with a strong focus on infrastructure development, agricultural growth, and financial cooperation,” the ministry explained.
