Africa-Press – Namibia. CHIEF Executive Officer (CEO) of the Road Fund Administration, Ali Iipinge, said that the low volume seal road strategy implemented over the past 3 years has covered 200km.
Iipinge said, “This upgrade has seen us making an investment exceeding N$500 million and we have partnered with the Road Authority to maintain, rehabilitate, and upgrade national roads.”
Currently, RFA made a total investment this year alone of about N$2.7 billion.
“This is over and above the government’s road budget of N$2 billion, bringing the total national road sector budget to N$5 billion,” he said.
Iipinge added that they provided approximately N$80 million through the RA this year alone to kick-start the upgrade of the four district roads in Oshana and Oshikoto regions.
Moreover, he pointed out that the entire road section will require over N$350 million over the next 3 years.
Iipinge indicated that the upgrades will improve access and mobility in Oshikoto and Oshana regions and beyond.
