Africa-Press – Namibia. The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has appointed Charles Siyauya as the general secretary for the next five years.

Siyauya has a master’s degree in security and strategic studies and has worked at the University of Namibia.

“He hails from the Zambezi region,” said NFA president Robert Shimooshili at a media conference at Gobabis on Monday.

He is considered the first official from the Zambezi region to serve at this level.

Shimooshili added that no woman applied for the position.

The technical director’s position has been filled by Jacqueline Shipanga with effect from 1 January 2024.

In the meantime, Shimooshili said they have accomplished 99% of the short term targets set when they came into office.

He added that N$4,1 million of the N$15 million received from the Confederation of African Football will be given to the Brave Warriors and the technical team, with the remainder to be invested in improving sport infrastructure ahead of a Council of Southern Africa Football Associations’ under-17 tournament, which the NFA has been asked to host towards the end of the year
