Africa-Press – Namibia. Namibian Revenue Agency has warned the public on an email purportedly sent to tax defaulters. In a video released yesterday on Facebook, the agency spokesperson Steven Ndorokaze said NamRA is aware of the email that seems to have been generated from NamRA’s online system, Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS).
The email has been sent to recipients who have been identified to be defaulting taxpayers. Ndorokaze added in the video that the email carries a threat of litigation and blacklisting.
“On the face of the email, it falls short in many respects; it does not identify the taxpayer, either by name or tax identification number, it also refers to the Tax Administration Act whereas, in Namibia, we use the Income Tax Act and the centre of that is the Álista Moller’ who NamRA confirmed that he does not exist in the employment system of the Namibian Revenue Agency.
He further urged the Namibian public to report any suspicious contacts or communication to the NamRa office to verify and confirm the information shared.
