Africa-Press – Namibia.
A combined investment of over N$25 million in two major projects is currently transforming Ondangwa Extension 28, also known as Onguta.

The projects are aimed at uplifting living standards and driving local development.

The electrification project, valued at N$12.5 million, began in January and is now more than 80% complete.

Slated for official handover in December, the project includes the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of low-voltage electrical services.

“The electrification of Onguta represents a significant milestone in the advancement of our residential areas,” the town’s spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha stated.

She added that with individual household connections, residents will have access to reliable energy that supports education, enhances public safety, promotes small business growth and improves overall quality of life.

The spokesperson said the construction of surfaced roads in the same area is in its early stages.

“Handed over in June, the work is expected to be completed by October 2025,” Shitalangaho-Mutikisha added.

The Ondangwa Town Council has reiterated its commitment to improving public utilities and infrastructure across town.

The town’s spokesperson further stated that the residents of Onguta have warmly welcomed these developments, especially after recent complaints during the rainy season about the poor condition of roads leading to key areas like the church.

I, therefore, encourage the community to continue cooperating with the contractors on site to ensure the successful and timely completion of the ongoing projects.
